Zlatan Ibrahimovic explains why Manchester United are failing to keep pace with Chelsea

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho criticised the runaway Premier League leaders last week, claiming their success was based on defensive and negative football.

Ibrahimovic has been a huge hit since his move to Old Trafford in the summer but his 16 Premier League goals haven’t been anywhere near enough to help his new side keep pace with Chelsea.

United are a distant 17 points adrift of Antonio Conte’s side ahead of Sunday meeting with Middlesbrough which Ibrahimovic will miss, serving the second game of a three-match domestic ban.

Explaining what makes a Premier League winning side, Ibrahimovic said: ‘There isn’t a dominant force here, like Juventus in Italy, PSG in France, Bayern Munich in Germany or Barcelona in Spain,’ Ibrahimovic added.
